RESEARCH INTERESTS

I study the intersections of contemporary media, politics, and cultural theory and practice, all through the lens of various theoretical and historical frameworks (with an emphasis on otherness as an historical formation of meanings). My current research efforts address the political culture of conservatism and liberalism's response to those dynamics within the contemporary media environment as well as class and racial representation in contemporary media and politics.

Primary Fields: Cultural studies, language and knowledge construction, and media theory, analysis, and practice as it relates to the study of race, class, and political culture.

Secondary Fields: Culture and history of the Pre-war South, Civil War & Reconstruction; Collective Memory of Black Political Leadership.
